  • Credentials -  Joanne has a Certificate in Restorative Justice co-issued by the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society and Edmonton’s Mediation and Restorative Justice Centre in 2008. Most recently she was invited to attend a seven-day, intensive training offered by Correctional Service Canada’s Restorative Opportunities Program which works with offenders and victims of serious crime. Other training includes Facilitating Dialogue Between Victims and Offenders in Mid-Range Criminal Offences put on by the Fraser Region Community Justice Initiatives Association, and numerous trainings in Peace Circles and Advanced Peacemaking Circles. She has had both training and experience in trauma-informed practice, RJ and Neuroscience, and RJ and Shame. In 2012 Joanne was asked by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta (ADRIA) to put together a five-day training for adults in Restorative Justice and Restorative Practices. Dozens of students have taken that course and others Joanne has created.
  • Experience -  Joanne has been facilitating restorative dialogues and circles in Alberta since 2007. She both volunteers as a RJ Facilitator and has a private practice in this area. She has hundreds of hours of experience in RJ and mediation. Most recently Joanne co-created a 12-hour virtual course for the Alberta Restorative Justice Association which was attended to by more than 100 participants over five cohorts in the winter/spring 2021.

Joanne is a Chartered Mediator and Restorative Justice Facilitator and Trainer, and has been practicing in these fields since 2007.

    Joanne Munro

    Joanne is a chartered mediator, restorative justice facilitator and instructor/trainer in the fields of restorative justice, restorative practices, peacemaking circles, mediation, conflict resolution and communication. Joanne has been a long-time volunteer with Edmonton's Mediation and Restorative Justice Centre, and in 2019 and 2020 had a contract with Correctional Service Canada's Restorative Opportunities program which provides victim-offender mediation for serious crimes. Joanne has been an advocate of restorative justice for many years, most recently serving on the education subcommittee of an Alberta Courts restorative justice pilot project.
