Different Types of RJ Processes

There are different restorative justice processes to choose from. Each process highlights a different approach to acknlowledging the restorative justice principles, and provides some flexibility for participants to choose a process that best suits their needs.

Models of RJ ProcessesKnown as
Indirect dialogueFacilitated exchange of letters, videos, emails between victims and offenders
Facilitated dialogue between victims and offendersVictim Offender Dialogue, Victim Offender Restorative Dialogue
Facilitated dialogue between victims, offenders, supporters, and government officialsCommunity conferencing Some conferencing models use a written script.
Facilitated dialogue between victims, offenders, supporters, community members, and/or government officials.Peacemaking circles, sentencing circles
Directed dialogue between victims, offenders, and other partiesThis may take place in any of the above models.
